Nothing we’ve done, or plan on doing, is remotely possible without the confidence, trust and support of the Staten Island community...Together We Are Doing Wonderful Things!
Over the past 12 years, the Joseph Maffeo Foundation has been blessed with the confidence, trust and support of the Staten Island community, as well as the physicians, nurses and staff at Staten Island University Hospital – Northwell Health. As we begin a new chapter and embark on an exciting new journey – we’d like to emphasize how very proud we are of our past work and accomplishments at the hospital:
- The redesign and complete renovation of the Pediatric section
- Our involvement and support of the pediatric unit of the Elizabeth A. Connelly Emergency & Trauma Center
- Our support of the Florina Rusi-Marke Comprehensive Breast Center
- Our support of the Kid Against Cancer Pediatric Oncology Center
Featured Project: The Joseph Maffeo Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as part of the NEW Women & Newborn Center at Staten Island University Hospital
Linda and I are excited and proud to announce that the Joseph Maffeo Foundation & Children's Program at SIUH – Northwell Health is alive and well. With a new found energy, we are re-committed and about to embark on a new and wonderful journey – making our world a better place, not only for the children of Staten Island, but for the newborns, infants and their entire families. With our new found energy and enthusiasm, we will be spearheading the development and fundraising efforts for the construction of the much needed NEW Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The New NICU will be part of the NEW Women and Newborn Center that is so desperately needed at Staten Island University Hospital – Northwell Health.
The Joseph Maffeo Foundation is proud and extremely honored to once again join the elite medical team and staff at SIUH – Northwell Health. This relationship will help provide the necessary facilities and environment enabling the NICU staff to provide the outstanding care and support they strive to give.
Parents eagerly anticipate bringing their newborn home, so it is frightening if their child is admitted into the neonatal intensive care unit. Under the guidance of Dr. Philip Roth, Director of Pediatrics, Dr. Blau, Director of NICU and Laura Wenzel, Sr. Director of Maternal & Child Health, the Joseph Maffeo Foundation will strive to enhance the capability and care, necessary to minimize these fears, by focusing our efforts on the construction of this brand new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
For the most fragile infants, those born prematurely or with severe medical conditions, this NEW facility will deliver the latest in life-saving technologies and treatments along with the highly attentive care these tiny babies need – while providing an environment that is nonthreatening and family-friendly.
